Plan B Print Texts: Interviews

PRINT (NEWS and MAGAZINE) INTERVIEWS

For each text, identify the target audience (demographics/psychographics). How is it attracted?

Then answer the following questions...

Why is this platform being used?
Do the articles do more than entertain? How?
Does this platform allow the audience to participate/contribute?
What codes/conventions of print interviews are apparent in the examples?
How is narrative used to tell a story in each text?

Men’s Health interview
Men's health has been used in order to appeal to men, in order to show the fitness changes in Plan B's life. It is a way of showing that Plan B has done more than just produce a film.
This article is able to inform as well as entertain the audience on Plan B's lifestyle as well as his views, for example 'Some people are overweight and it suits them'. This enforces his view onto the audience, similar to the two step flow theory, where Plan B has been shown as the influential leader
The audience are able to participate and contribute to the article as they are able to 'join' the post via social media sites, such as Twitter, Facebook and Email, in addition there are competitions that audience can take part in.
The layout of the question and answers are typical of its kind as the question is in bold followed by quotation marks for Ben drew's answers.
Narrative is used in the men's health interview to tell a story as the story starts link's with Todorov's theory of having an equilibrium as Ben Drew discusses the riots, and tries to make it look positive, this is maintained, till near the end where he discusses the fact that his suits had to be given away to his 'fat friends', and this was the disequilibrium, followed by him being relieved overall that he has lost work - meaning there was finally harmony again, this is the new equilibrium.

Q Magazine interview
The platform is being used in order to reach a wide audience and target specific people.Using psychographics the target audience would be mainstreamers because Q music targets a wide stream audience with similar interests. The article entertains as well as showing the audience Plan B's live reaction to his music award through a video interview. The page allows viewers to post a comment at the bottom of the page, therefore participating and sharing thoughts on the subject. The video shows an interviewee who is standing on the left hand side and Plan B being interviewed. This makes it obvious that it's an interview. The narrative tells the audience about Plan B's reaction to his music award as well as showing footage live from the event.

Mainstreamers have been targetted because Guardian is a widely read newspaper by a mass audience. The demographic target audience for this interview is a C-A audience as it uses formal language and The Guardian newspaper targets this specific audience. The Guardian is used for the Plan B interview to target audiences that it might not always appeal to. This newspaper targets a middle class older audience, however Plan B himself appeals to a younger audience. Therefore by appealing to a new audience, Plan B is possibly gaining more fans by making people aware of what he is doing and is used as a form of promotion for Ill Manors. The article entertains as well as informs as it gives information of Plan B's Ill Manors and includes names of the cast members etc. The journalist also writes about Plan B's background history, which is expected in a print interview. Narrative is used to describe background information on Plan B and also tells the story of how he came about making his film, Ill Manors.
The bottom of the page allows readers to leave and share comments of their thoughts on the article. The interview includes quotes from Plan B and also information on his film.

Shortlist interview
In terms of psychographics, the target audience would be Mainstreamers as shortlist.com targets a wide stream audience with similar interests. This interview targets a C2-E demographic audience as it uses informal and possibly offensive language to some audiences. This platform is being used to reach a wide and specific target audience who have an interest in Plan B. The article entertains and lets the reader know more about Plan B as a person as his answers reveal his type of personality. There is a place for audiences to comment on the article at the bottom of the page where it clearly states 'add a comment', encouraging people to interact with the article. The article is set out as a question and answer layout, making the print apparent that it is an interview. Narrative is used to tell the story behind Plan B's reasoning to make his song, Ill Manors and his intentions behind it.

24th Feb Test: Learner & Teacher Response

Marks: 29/48
Grade: C+

WWW:
- Very strong answers for Q3/4.

LR:
-Limited response for Q1/2.
-Include question numbers
-Add a paragraph to each & include more theory in it, (e.g semiology - Barthes theory, or Prop's seven spheres of action)

Media Institutions
A positive narrative solution was used by the institution in order to allow the  road safety advert stay positive, this is because to begin with, the use of physical theatre allowed the audience to understand that the man is beginning to drive, and according to Todorov's theory this was the 'equilibrium', as there was happiness to begin with. however the audience then witness the disequilibrium as the man is under danger due to not wearing a seat belt, whilst driving, however he is saved by his family, and this rescue therefore leads to a happy 'ending', forming a new equilibrium. in addition the institution follow some narrative patterns, which are portrayed in order to make the advert positive, as the seatbelt has been seen as the donor, that helps the hero, who are the mother and daughter rescue the man, who needs help, making the man the princess and needs the seatbelt, this links with Prop's seven spheres of action.

Media Forms
*don't use really bright ! - High key lighting

The facial expressions of the characters were very similar throughout the advert. When the accident had occurred, and the man of the family needed help, all three of the characters had still stuck to similar facial expressions of being shocked and looking worried. These negative facial expressions were then followed by more relieving and happier ones when the family were able to save the driver. the stereotypes of family being loyal and caring towards each other is enforced, allowing the facial expressions to link in with Medhurt's theory, as this theorist stated that  'stereotypes' are a shorthand for communication, and the audience are expected to instantly understand that the driver being unsafe and unhappy, will also mean his family is going to be unsafe and happy, in addition the male is stereotyped to     . This also challenges the typical stereotypes of men being seen as 'strong', because he isn't shown very dominant, thus this challenges perkins theory of stereotypes being true & often negative as the man is shown 'weak'.

ILL MANORS MUSIC VIDEO: EXAM QUESTIONS

media forms - competed on paper

media representation
Many representations are made throughout this music video, firstly the representation of men has been negative, this is the alternative representation as men are stereotyped to be more violent and aggressive than females, this is an exaggerated version of male characteristics and therefore links with Dyer's theory of stereotyping as he claims that stereotypes are exaggerated versions of the truth and is applied to the whole group - as shown in the music video, as men had dominated the aggression shown. Plan B has also challenged this theory, because some females were shown in the video, being involved in anti-social behaviour and his challenges the 'lady-like' stereotype which is of them being calm, kind and well behaved. In addition gender is also represented once again but linked to Berger's theory on ways of seeing, as he stated that 'men act and women appear'. This theory links to the music video because what is happening is that the men are being aggressive and 'acting', and the females shown are mainly just being sidekicks, and not doing much - therefore they are just appearing whilst the men act. Race has also been represented in a alternative and dominant representations, firstly because the man shown leading the crowd in the video is a British white boy - PLAN B, who wouldn't usually be stereotped./known to behave aniti-socially. This also links in to stereotypes and Medhurt's theory of stereotypes being used as a shorthand for us to identify things, in this case it would the youths being seen negatively as they are seen wearing hoodies and trainers, through the media clothing of such type have been stereotyped as being negative. Therefore when the youths are seen wearing trainers and hoodies we see them in a negative way. Furthermore, this also links in to Cohen's theory of folk devils and moral panic. as we see the youths behaving badly and creating chaos it shows it fuels the stereotype that all youths are bad are no good to society, this creates a moral panic as people begin to believe this as that is how youths are always portrayed in media. The majority of the music video is made up of teenagers and youths, this to the audience connotes that all teenagers are bad and useless as they are shown behaving badly and doing things that would go against the norms and values of society for example, they are seen rioting. Dyer's theory of ''those with less power are being stereotyped by those with more power'' can also be applied in this case as Plan B suggests that the politicians and the media are stereotyping the youth in order to manipulate the public to believe the youth are 'scums of the world'.

media institution - In what ways is his video a typical music video, what does it promote?
The music video is a montage video which means that it is a load of scenes that have been put together to create a video clip. i believe that a montage video has been used to show a fast paced life style as the scenes cut very quickly, also as it is a montage video and the type of music that is playing could connote that the people in the music video live broken lifestyles or they come from broken families.
We also see an alternative lifestyle being shown in the music video as usually we would expect to see a very glamorous music video with fancy cars, big houses, lots of money and half naked girls, but in this we see the total opposite of that. This has been done to sow what life is really like and what life is actually like for the people living in such areas. It also adds to the fact that it is a low budget music video but with a lot of meaning, as when Plan B is rapping he doesn't promote a negative lifestyle he talks about the actual problems that these youths are facing and why they are doing such things. furthermore most people would think that this a entertaining music video but when you focus on what is being said it is actually an educational music video, as Plan B is trying to get a message across of why teenagers and youths behave the way they do and why they do such things.

media audiences- Who does this text/artist appeal to and why?

I think that this music would appeal to teenagers, youths and people that live similar lifestyles to the ones shown on the music video, as they would be able to relate to the situations that are being shown in the music video. They may have also been a part of some of the things shown in the music video e.g. the riots. It would relate to a C1, C2, D, and E 14 - 25 Demographic. People of that age and demographic that would be most likely to understand the circumstances of the people shown in the music video.

Ill Manors Synergy

Task 1: Analysis Of Ill Manors Official Film webpage(http://www.illmanors.com/#scene-3)

There are many features included in the website, this includes. The Trailer, Synopsis, Director - Ben Drew, Stills(of cast), Videos,, Buy now, Links, Reactions

The Trailer has been included in order to make the audience be attracted to the movie by this promotional video. It will be appealing to the audience as it is real clips of what happens in the movie, the trailer will allow the audience to know if they genuinely are interested in this movie - this can be be based on what genre they identify the movie to be/the story-line,  the actors/acting, setting, director ect.

Synopsis is a short hand for audience for them to know a bit about the movie, consumers may want to know the story-line before they go on to watching it, as the story-line (exact reflection) can be what will appeal to them, therefore this is important as it is what gives away the story.

Ben Drew, who is the director has been used, as previous fans of his music may want to read about him, as this section is about him & his values, the singer, song-writer / director has been spoken about and quoted in order to bring in some more realism to the entire movie, it is more personal,

Stills of people associated to the movie and cast have been shown in order to show the audience who is involved in the movie, as this maybe a reason why they will want to be involved with the movie

Videos of ''meet the cast'', if the audience know more about the characters and hear the values on the movie they will be more likely to want to watch this movie.

Buy Now - The buy now section is for those that are interested in buying the movie or what I would have expected is merchandise etc. This is very simple, and is just a small section for those that have been persuaded to buy the movie.

Links - The links section follows personal and official Instagram/Twitter/Facebook etc. This allows fans/viewers to connect with the actors etc. on a more personal level. It gives them to opportunity to see what they are up to and what future plans are.

Reactions - The reactions sections includes all positive reviews from some of Ben Drew's friends who had also attended the premiere of the movie. Including well known singers/songwriters such as Ed Sheeran, Alesha Dixon, Tinie Tempah and more. There are also many other positive reviews written by magazines and newspapers, this is another technique used to persuade the audience that the film is definitely a must watch. The reactions were shown to the audience like so:

Albums - The albums section features various ways in which they can purchase the album/soundtrack. There is also a website on there that belongs to Ben Draw/Plan B.

Task 2: Watch the Jonathan Ross & Soccer AM show with Plan B and identify:

- the target audience (demographics / psychographics) & explain why.

- State which channel these shows were broadcasted on and when they were scheduled.
The Jonathan Ross show with Plan B, was broadcasted on Saturday, 1st September 2012, at 9.55pm on ITV. The show was on REPEAT on Thursday 6th Sep 2012 (10:35pm, ITV)

Soccer AM with Plan B, was broadcasted on, Saturday Jan 9th 2010 at 10am on Sky Sports
(mainly men dominated)

-Mention what the audience appeal is i.e. what he speaks about
JONATHAN ROSS SHOW: The audience for this show using the demo-graphics are C1, C2, B, these are usually the successful and wealthy people. This is shown on a Saturday night, where most working class people will have their ''day off'', meaning they would want to be entertained. There is some swearing therefore it is viewed after pre-watershed timings, therefore it is mainly for younger people, however not too young, more specifically age group 16-34. The jonathan Ross show also involves political conversations, meaning its for an educated audience.

SOCCER AM- The target audience for this clip is a C2-D audience using demographics. This show mainly appeals to sport fans and in specific, footballer lovers - or generally, males. Soccer AM targets reformers as a lower demographic group would be anti-materialistic, but aware of good taste as reformers are using psychographics.

                       - How has Plan B been represented in each text - similarities &
                                                                differences

Plan B tries to promote is values and himself as his brand in both shows, hoping to get fame from that, rather than making the show look like promotion, although that's what it is - he mentions his movie/album in both, however talks about his struggles making it, rather than how good it is. The Jonathan Ross show is more political, however soccer am is more general, and laid back.

Ill Manors Film Research

1) Research all the Institutions involved in the production of Ill Manors. List them with a summary of what their contribution to the film was.
Ill Manors was filmed in Forest Gate. This film has been directed and written by Plan B, distributed by Revolver Entertainment.
Ill Manors was funded by three studios the Film London Microwave, BBC Films, and Aimimage, the film Ill Manors took three years prior to filming, it is based upon actual events and stories that Plan B had heard growing up and living in an estate.
As imaginable, it had been a struggle to arrange the finance for this movie, however he was eventually able to raise enough funding, and started the film producing in 2009.The production is producer by Atif Ghani, cinematography by Gary Shaw, and editors for the film by David Freeman, Hugh Williams, Sortira Kyriacou, and Farah Drabu. The man characters of the film were Riz Ahmed, who played the character Aaron, seen as the main characer. Ed Skrein, played as Ed. Keith Coggins, Lee Allen, Nick Sagar, Ryan De La Cruz, Anouska Mond and Nathalie Press. All these characters had played a core role in the film, their goal was to survive in their own way and find an escape.

2) How much did Ill Manors cost to produce (its budget)?

Ill Manors had a budget of £100,000 (estimated), and the film had ended up raising massive profits due to its popularity, leading to making £453,570 in the UK box office.

3) How was Ill Manors funded?

Ben Drew/Plan B had gone on tour as an attempt to raise sufficient funds to just get the project started, although his first tour - . called "The Defamation of Strickland Banks Tour" was to get out of the £40k debt he was in, him doing other concerts which helped fund the film.

4) What is the target audience for Ill Manors?

The certificate of Ill Manors is 18, therefore the film would have swearing, violence, sexual content. The audience is obvious as it would be aimed a young adults (18-34). The film focuses on eight main characters who have problems in life, living in a rough estate however the audience targeted would relate to the characters as the characters are young adults too (dominant). It appeals to those who are from the socio demogrpahic group of E-C2, as they may be able to relate to these situations (people from E-D), and some will want to learn about these situations - to see tings from other perspectives, this will appeal to those who want to learn more - i.e. those who are reformers in the uses and gratification model.

5) Who is the main distributor of Ill Manors?

The main distributor of Ill Manors is by Revolver Entertainment. In order to raise funds for Ben Drew's film, the distribution rights to Ill Manors were sold to Revolver Entertainment in April 2011. Revolver Entertainment is located in both London and LA.

6) How was Ill Manors promoted using the broadcast platform?
Online news such as The Guardian's website had unveiled the first Ill Manors trailer on 3rd May 2012, followed by Empire Magazine's website on 8th May 2012, which unveiled the first Ill Manors film poster. Furthermore Digital Spy also promoted Drew's film by two other film posters on the 18th May and 7th June 2012. The premiere of Ill Manors was on the 30th May 2012 in London and wide released to 190 cinemas in the UK and Republic of Ireland.  Ben Drews TED x Talk, was also strategically chosen as it took place on the 10th May 2012, exactly 20 days prior to the premiere of the movie, in order to raise awareness about his values and attract a larger and different (more educated) audience to watch his movie, as he had already targeted deprived/urban areas which were less posh by posters.

7) Compare this with a big budget blockbuster. What are the main similarities and differences?

‘Skyfall’ is a big budget blockbuster to compare ‘Ill Manors’ which is a low budget film.
‘Skyfall’ is the twenty-third James Bond film to be very successful and known worldwide, alongside theme songs by famous artists such as Adele, Alicia Keys and many more, whereas the music in Ill Manors is featured by the director - Plan B himself.
The film is an action packed adventure film with a budget of $150 - $200 million which raised in the Box office to $951,323,067, on the other hand, British film, ‘Ill Manors’ had a budget of £100,00 which raised to £453,570, in the Box office, both the budget and profit were much less.
The similarities between ‘Skyfall’ and ‘Ill manors’ are that they both contain violence and some of the same props such as a gun, both films connotes danger and realism however ‘Ill Manors’ is a film that highlights lives of individuals who have been brought up in dangerous neglected areas during childhood. Both films create enigma codes which engage the audience and make them think what is going to happen next as they are curious and want to find out.
‘Ill Manors’ was produced with a low budget funding as it was an project by Ben Drew who is a music artist therefore companies didn't want to fund him, as they thought the film would not be successful however ‘Skyfall’ has a big budget due to the mise en scene, as companies know that a Bond film will be successful they funded a lot of money to the film to be very attractive to the audience therefore they would watch it.

The characters featured in ‘Skyfall’ are popular, known actors well known to the industry, the audience are aware of these characters as they have see them before in other blockbusters, the actors maybe educated in the film line and some will play a role completely different to their original character.  However ‘Ill Manors’ have new and natural characters who are new to the film industry giving them an opportunity to show their skills of acting, some of these characters that are younger are chose from a deprived environment as Ben thought that these young people will be more likely to relate to the movie, as they are originally from the environment that is shown in the movie, therefore the audience don’t know these characters very well and would not be aware of the film as much as ‘Skyfall’.

In addition, locations and sets costing excessive amounts of money must have been used for this spectacular SkyFall Movie, whereas Ill Manors was mainly shot in real locations - so what the location was shown as in the movie, was really what it was!

Lastly ‘Ill Manors’ have strong content of drug use, strong swearing, street language and sexual scenes on the other hand in ‘Skyfall’, (although it includes violence) is action packed with car crashes etc.

8) How does the trailer for Ill Manors hook audiences into the narrative and pose questions that the film will answer (Barthes: enigma codes)? Identify 3 ways/techniques. Use your notes on the trailer to help.
Ill Manors hooks the audience attention into the narrative and pose questions that the film will answer is because the Ill Manors trailer uses many techniques to keep the audience assumed and to create enigma codes for them to watch it. The trailer strongly portrays lives of young youths living in council estate whose lives are hard due to living and growing up around violence and drugs. This film relates to normal people lives which connects to the audience making them realise and feel sympathy for young youths also it creates realism of the daily events that happen. Ill Manors trailer uses effective non-diegetic and diegetic music to engage the audience the voice over of Ben Drew (Plan B) is very effective as he explains the narrative of the story by rapping the words, Drew is an artist known for his rapping therefore the audience will be aware it is him and he is promoting the film by his soundtrack, furthermore it lets the audience know that Drew’s life also reflects to him and the film as he was growing up. The rapping of Plan B relates to a much younger audience as they would listen to grime music therefore the target audience I think are teenagers and adults. The text used in the trailer attracts the audience’s attention as it is hard bold, stands out which suggests it is the main focus therefore we would read it. The text also explains the narrative of the film alongside with Plan B’s lyrics, the non-diegetic music matches the fast past edits towards the end creating tension and enigma code to the audience as there are events from the film cut into quick edits into the trailer to make the audience also have an idea of the film would e about. Overall at the end of the trailer the release date was shown in a large white font with a black background to make the audience remember the date it would be coming out and to watch it.

9) Think about the certificate of Ill Manors (18 certificate). Research film certification and outline what is deemed acceptable for this certificate. What is the difference between a 15 certificate and an 18 certificate?

15 Certificates will only allow the following :
  • strong violence
  • frequent strong language (eg 'f***').
  • portrayals of sexual activity
  • strong verbal references to sex
  • sexual nudity
  • brief scenes of sexual violence or verbal references to sexual violence
  • discriminatory language or behaviour
  • drug taking

In an 15 rated movie, there may be occasional uses of the strongest terms (eg 'c***'), although continued or aggressive use will not normally be passed 15.
  • 18 works are for adults and can contain strong issues such as:
    • very strong violence
    • frequent strong language (eg 'f***') and/or very strong language (eg ‘c***’)
    • strong portrayals of sexual activity
    • scenes of sexual violence
    • strong horror
    • strong blood and gore
    • real sex (in some circumstances)
    • discriminatory language and behaviour
In ill manors, the movie has included strong violence for example constant scenes of the girls fighting in the estate, in addition, the f word as well as the c word, along with many other offensive terms had been used frequently, by all the characters at one stage or the other, there was scenes of sexual content, for example when Michelle was being sold by Ed and was shown having sex with shop keepers she had been sold to.

''WIN A SUMMER SHOPPING SPREE @ ASOS ''

Task 2: Find atleast 1 souvenir magazine cover & embed it on blog.

Task 3 : Produce an A4 Sketch of front cover for souvenir magazine, using key conventions we have learnt & picked out from other magazines.

Task 4: Produce an A4 landscape sketch of double page spread#

Task 5: Write a detailed analysis of the souvenir magazine below using the 12 key convention handout we had.

1. Title of publication- The title is placed in the top third because it is easily visible and it stands out as its a BBC production and that's why the logo is in the top third. The title of this magazine is really bold but isn't taking up all the top third as people will recognize doctor who because of the BBC slogan in the top third and the actors- this is why the title isn't taking up the top third as it's a recognized brand. When we see the BBC logo we can trust it and this could lead to more sales as the consumers can trust it and trust all the information inside the magazine. The connotations of the silver colour are Mysterious and emotional and Doctor who has both of these including in the doctor Who story- mysterious adventure and emotional love life. The colours also go with the SCI-FI genre silver and gold and we see these colours on Star wars etc. When we see these colours we usually reefer to sci-fi movies and that is why these colours are used.

2. Slogan- In the top third we can see the slogan from BBC which reads 'celebrating 50 years of adventure in space and time' This shows how consistent BBC- producing a TV consistently for 50 years and its still going strong and it is something special and that is why the slogan is in the top third because they want the people to see what BBC have archived and it is something to brag about. We usually see slogans right on the top- but this is slightly different as its just on top of the title, or we see the slogan under the title. The

3. Central Image- The central image used on this magazine is the doctor of the show- Matt Smith. With most magazines we see- we only see the one 'anchor man' the main person of the show. With this magazine its completely different as we see 3 actors compared to the one used on most magazine front covers. BBC don't really need to establish the main values of doctor who as its been around for 50 years and the consumers tend to know everything about the show. Also Matt Smith can attract other types of audiences as he's been in other projects- this something that BBC and the Publishers are keen on using the main actor to gain more viewers. That is why the focus is on him and the other 2 are blurred out as they want the attention on Matt Smith. Matt Smith does establish the core value of this as its about doctor who and it isn't better central image than using the main actor. The type of shot used on Matt Smith is a medium close so we the audience can focus on his face, eyes and body language. The way the doctor is addressing the audience is by the serious look which is a common look with doctors and its exactly the look Matt Smith is giving to the audience. With the central image we can't see any females, which may connote that doctor who isn't really aimed at the female audience- the priority are the males. The reason why BBC prioritize the male audience is because they can go out and buy the merchandise which isn't really aimed at females.

4. The cover line for this is swift and quick meaning is short and sounds great. The slogan is very easy to remember as its not very long. Which is done by most major Industry they don't really use long slogans because it won't be a slogan as people won't remember it. This is one of the main conventions for the magazines, as consumers we could tell as its in a bold font and its in the centre of the book. The cover lines on magazines show what the episode is about- that's why we see them on the magazines every week.

5. Free offer- This magazine convention is used with this magazine. You get free anniversary cards with this edition. When we see this magazines you eyes go straight on that side of the page as its in bold red which connotes emergency, importance and the audience eyes go straight on the red text. The text stands out from other texts on the page as its bold and red

6. Colour scheme- The colour scheme on this magazine is very limited and not many colours are used with this magazine. This is because BBC don't want any piece of text to get mixed up. The colour coordination is very dull- the colours used: Red, white, gold and black. These colours aren't the lightest. Black is the magazines background as doctor who's main colour is black. The white text is used for the slogan as white is the main colour for text on a magazine. The Red colour is used on the competition text as that is the colour that gets most people attention. gold is used in the competition area as gold is the colour for winners.

7. Name checks- Name checks is used by making the audience feel that everyone, the audience, are together. They use it by the celebration slogan in the top third. This makes the audience feel that they are enjoying the success together as its a massive achievement and the consumers want to take part in the success.

8. Language- We can see that no words are wasted in the front cover and BBC are straight to the point with this. The language used is alliteration which makes the consumers remember the slogan as its catchy and it will be repetitive in their minds and this helps the T V show promotion and its very small and effective.

9. Competition- In the modern day magazines competition is on of the main connotion on a magazines as it attracts many people with the prices that could be won. The use of competition with this magazine is that you could win official merchandise such as DVDs. Many doctor who audiences will be interested in this as they will have the series highlights on DVD which they can view again. The clever thing is the suspense that BBC have built up as it says nothing on how you could win these prices

10- Bar code, date and price- With this magazine the bar code is on the bottom of the page and this is with most magazines as industries don't want consumers to be put of with prices so it is in the smallest font possible.

11. The real target audience- The real target audience for this magazine are the people who are interested in doctor who and for the people who watch doctor who. All these competitions and free gifts are used to create brand loyalty meaning that BBC are loyal to its customers and they reward them.
